Sr. Simeon Fund

The Sr. Simeon Fund realizes the dream of Sr. Simeon M. McCoppin, O. P., bringing tuition relief to families in need. As Treasurer from 1983 to 1999, Sr. Simeon often listened to families in crisis. Even as she offered advice on family budgets and continued to hold everyone accountable, Sr. Simeon was active in seeking funding for families in emergency situations. Often, she would call upon members of her own family to assist with tuition, calling her brother and telling him, “I have a student we need to help.”

Over the years, The Sr. Simeon Fund has helped hundreds of Marian Catholic families who, for many reasons, found it difficult to meet the tuition commitment for their students. The loss of employment, sudden or serious illness, or other financial hardships all contribute to the necessity of a sound tuition reserve.

A mainstay of the Marian Fund, gifts to The Sr. Simeon Fund have immediate impact both for the sponsor and the recipient. Donors benefit in knowing that their commitment helped keep a Spartan in the Marian community. Recipients are often overwhelmed at the generosity of others, and are genuinely grateful for the opportunity to continue their journey of a Marian Catholic college-prep education. To witness the relief and gratitude a student and family feels is truly palpable.

“I really don’t need any ‘thanks’ for my gift. I strongly believe in the academic and spiritual benefits of a Catholic education and in these difficult times, I wanted to help someone whose family was negatively impacted by the economy.”
