softballSpartans (23-12) foiled by LW West in McNamara 3A Sectional semifinals

Marian Catholic scored first and last on June 1 in the Kankakee McNamara IHSA 3A Sectional semifinals, but Lincoln-Way West owned the middle of the contest and eliminated the Spartans, 6-2. While Danielle Thieman and Ally Wallace combined for six strikeouts, the Marian hitters fanned on 13 occasions.

The Spartans (23-12) had taken a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Bri Teeter tripled and scored on a wild pitch. However, LW West scored six unanswered runs by the time Marian's Gabi Angellotti singled home Susie Baranski in the bottom of the sixth. Marian was outhit, 10-6, as no Spartan collected more than a single safety. Marian kept things close by turning in three double plays in the contest.

Junior Varsity: Marian dropped a 10-0 decision to Lincoln-Way Central, although Meghan Berner was 2-for-2 at the plate.
