Claire Jakubisin has been the Director of the Choirs at Marian Catholic High School since 2013. Under her direction the choir consists of three curricular choirs: Concert Choir, Spartan Choir, and Varsity Choir. In addition to the curricular choirs, she teaches an after school vocal jazz and a cappella group and is the music director for the school’s musicals. She earned her B.M. in Music Education from Butler University in Indianapolis and is working on her Master’s at Vandercook in Chicago.
Ms. Jakubisin’s choirs have recently sung on Carnegie Hall’s stage and participated in programs with Choir’s of America. She looks forward to providing more opportunities like this for her choir’s in the future.
Meet the Accompanist: Vonda Hardesty
Vonda Hardesty, a self-taught pianist/organist, has been performing since she was 12 years old. She is the organist and choir accompanist at Flossmoor Community Church; previously she was the organist and choir accompanist at Faith United Protestant Church in Park Forest for 13 years. Her professional credits include musicals and children's theatre at the Center for the Visual and Performing Arts in Munster, IN, and past Do-It-Yourself Messiah concerts held at Governors State University and Faith United Protestant Church. She continues to be in demand to provide music for concerts, weddings, and special events at country clubs, churches and theatres, She has performed on the pipe organ at Orchestra Hall with the Homewood-Flossmoor Viking Choir, and recently accompanied Marian's choirs on their tour of New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall.
